TIP, AND GRIP (IF ROOM ALLOWS).

type of rod blank, type of grip, type of guides, and color of thread; as well as,
the wrap pattern for the guides. With a "Handmade rod" you get the stock
blank (black rib pattern) and guides (stainless steel frame with black shock
ring and white ceramic insert) and get to choose type of grip, thread color,
and wrap pattern. Most rod builders charge $15 an hour and up; however, I
charge a flat rate of $25 for up to 6'' rods and $35 for 6.5' and 7' rods plus the
price of all the components except thread. I buy the thread (if I don't have it)
as I will probably need it sooner or later. Examples of choices are as follows:
Blank: Length, maker (All Star, Falcon, St. Croix, Pac Bay, etc.), Power, Action
Grip: Casting or spinning, cork or rubber, and length
Guides: Stainless Steel, Gold, Black, Titanium, Double foot or single foot
Thread Color: Almost limitless. Choice of nylon, silk, or metallic.
All grips and reel seats are epoxied with a two part 4,000 lb. epoxy, all thread
receives 4 coats of color preserver (except NCP and metallic) and 4 coats of
rod finish. The entire rod then receives two coats of rod finish.
I can also put your name in white or gold block letters on the rod ($5.00). All
cork grips are sealed with U-40 Cork Seal to help prevent chipping and stain
retention.
